How's the takeover?
Rockcliffe-Smythe is a boring little nook and cranny of greater Toronto that surprisingly offers the usual opportunities for city-goers. Food, entertainment and things to spend ones money on frivolously, are in just as much quantity as you could reasonably desire. What it has more than many places inside Toronto, however, is greenery.
Parks, pathways, rivers and creeks all lend themselves to an illusion that you are more than a short trip away from the busiest place in Canada. I prescribe this green bubble to be the saving grace of my time here in the city. With a mostly working-class family demographic, the streets never feel unsafe or particularly inhuman or riddled with "NPC syndrome". The biggest threats to the Rockcliffe-Smythe public seem to be dumpster-diving raccoons and an early bedtime.

While everybody tends to keep it on the low, finding eye contact or friendly chit-chat is achievable, more so than in the downtown and it has not been hard for me to build a familiarity with those reoccurring faces on the block. I can usually get a couple decent hellos in just on my way to the food Basic$ I frequent.
Whenever I need to clear my head or forget that the world tends to set itself on fire, Rockcliffe-Smythe assures me that things are not so doom and gloom. Nearby spots like Cruikshank Calisthenics Park is a small but grand attraction in my eyes, motivating me to simply get outside.
Little influences like that move you closer to a positive life and that can change a lot of people. Dare I say a city..
The Takeover is soft and quiet but it's happenin!
